The short film shows traditional pig slaughtering on the day of St. Ignatius of Antioch (20th December) in Bulgaria. With the winter solstice on the 21th of December start the so called "dirty days", which were connected in pagan times with bad spirits. During Christianisation the meaning has shifted from fighting bad spirits to the starting point of the Virgin Mary's labour pain.
A busy market day around Christmas time and a ritualize routine.
